One Year—and still no excuses

It’s been one year since I officially started this blog. It’s strange to think that it’s been that long, but it’s been a fantastically strange journey. Comparing where I was this time last year I can only smile, because I survived and I proved, mostly to myself, that I am strong and can make it through almost anything.

In part, I think that hosting a charity event, playing water polo in the Gay Games, and surrounding myself with fun and positive people has helped me to this point. However, being able to write and express myself has probably been the most therapeutic.

At times this blog has been my public journal and a chance to express my feelings, ideas, and views. I’ve never made the effort to stand out as a journalist or professional writer. In fact, I am quite aware that I have spelling, grammar, and format issues…and to that I say “oh well”. I have no excuses and I honestly don’t care. On so many levels this blog has allowed me get over people and situations that have weighed so heavily on my shoulders and in my past. It's also given me a platform to openly express how I should change my life and think through tough situations. I think a person feels a certain level of accountability to stick to a plan and honor their words when they say it in a public forum.

Originally this blog served as a means to vent my frustration in the work force and corporate America, but now it’s taken new direction and has been something more meaningful to me. Although it’s not my goal to entertain or be insightful to those who read my rambling entries, but I do hope those who have been reading enjoy it. I look forward to writing more in the weeks, months, and years ahead. Please stay tuned in.

Chicago Still in Running for Gold

The US Olympic board today announced that Chicago is among three cities still in the running for the US bid for the 2016 Olympic host city. Los Angeles and San Francisco are the other two bidding to be the US choice, and the fact that LA hosted the games in 1984 may boost the chances of Chicago winning the bid.

Chicago has been host to many major events, including the recent Gay Games, which may show the city’s attitude to diversity in sportsmanship. Although a lot goes into picking the appropriate city to host the games, and with so much still to review it's hard to say for sure which metropolis is going to be the winner. The IOC won’t official announce the host city until October 2009. Until then, we’ll just have to cross our fingers!

Pink goes Red(eye)

If you live in Chicago, then make sure to pick up the Chicago Redeye today (Wednesday, July 19, 2006) and flip on over to the "Wearwolves" fashion section--Page 61. Although I didn’t make it into the paper, I’m glad some of my guests got to strut their fashion loud and proud.
