Hey fatso! Put down that Cheeseburger!

It’s been about a month since I started my “diet” and things are going OK, not great, but OK. I haven’t lost my goal weight, but I am finding that it’s getting harder and harder to lose weight the older I get. Like a roller coaster my weight seems to go up, down, level, and then go back up almost daily.

Despite the fluctuation in my weight and the inability to shed 10 pounds, I am proud that I change my habits (for the most part). These are habits that have stuck with me for years, so this is a BIG deal!

I’ve eliminated my consumption of cola drinks by over 90%, and replaced coffee with green tea. Considering I use to have up to 4 cups of coffee and 48 oz (or more) of soda every day, I think it’s a pretty damn good improvement from a month ago.

One thing I’ve really struggled with is changing my food and alcohol behavior. I love eating and drinking! I tend to forget the rules of late night eating or skimming on really fatty additives. To me life is richer when there’s good food and wine at your disposal. Changing my mindset to making better decisions is going to be a big challenge, but all it takes is will power and small daily changes that will eventually become my new lifestyle.

Exercise!
Ok, this is where life gets in the way! I'm a hard worker and put in some long hours, which has recently caught up to me. Lately I'm tired and rarely am I willing to go run or lift weights after working 13 hours! I think with the weather getting better I’ll be more incline to get outside.

This thought that I can eat a cheeseburger and fries, then just burn it off later just has got to end. At my age my body can't burn it off at the same rate and I have to stop thinking I'm 26...because that ain't the cause!

Having lost thirty pounds last year, I can attest to the hardship of dieting and excercising. It sounds like your on the right track. Kicking the soda habit will help considerably and yeah, put down that cheeseburger!! Time to get your ass to Jewel and buy you some Lean Cuisines though. Why?? because you're a fast food junkie!! Put the Chipolte burrito down and start monitoring your fat gram intake.

xoxoxo, your pal and old neighbor.

I can vouch for the "older you get, the harder it is to lose weight". This round has been a struggle. I'm doing OK too, but I had 2 sodas yesterday. Before that, I'd been getting in 6 to 7 9 ounce glasses of water during the day. Still not off the booze though. Now that the weather looks like it's turning, I might walk the long way to work. I've also started getting off on the 9th floor in my building and walking up the other 3 flights. Don't know if I'll lost the 15 I want, right now I'd settle for 10.
